Piton Labs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (full-time). We’re seeking someone who can work across different layers of the development stack, with a strong preference for candidates who are especially strong in backend development. You should have solid experience with cloud infrastructure. Prior experience in startup environments—whether through personal projects or working at an early-stage company—is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates located in time zones between GMT‑8 (US West Coast) and GMT‑3, though we may consider other cases individually.
Responsibilities and Technologies
At Piton Labs, you’ll work with both startups and established organizations to tackle their most difficult technical challenges. We operate in a high-uncertainty, high-complexity software development environment, helping clients build products focused on what truly needs to be done. Instead of executing a predefined task list, you’ll help set priorities and concentrate efforts on solving the most important problems for our clients.
We aren’t tied to a specific technology stack, but most client projects use TypeScript, React, and Go. We typically rely on AWS for cloud infrastructure, though some clients use other providers. You should have at least five years of experience in one or more large-scale web application development environments, including relational databases and modern frontend frameworks. Familiarity with the tools we prefer is helpful but not required. You should also be able to consistently write reliable, well-tested code.
A typical week may include:
• Building advanced user interfaces for web applications or mobile apps
• Designing and developing a serverless API layer for a new web product
• Creating and provisioning cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools
• Presenting new features to client stakeholders
Ideal Candidate
You’re independent and passionate about building software. You enjoy solving problems and continuously improving your technical skills. Key traits include:
• Practical: focused on solving problems and delivering value, using creativity when needed
• Self-directed: a sense of ownership for products or features, with an understanding of both the technical and human factors involved
• Deep experience: 5+ years of experience across a wide range of projects, refined over time
• Adaptable: keeps up with technology rather than limiting yourself to a single specialty
Remote Work Policy
• Our team is fully remote; we don’t have a physical office
• We prefer candidates based in the United States with legal authorization to work
• Secondary preference for candidates from Canada, Uruguay, or Paraguay
• The role requires daily availability for 4–6 hours during U.S. business hours (Eastern Time)
• We support digital nomads; your work location can be flexible
Why Join Us?
• Competitive salary: $140,000 for candidates based in the United States
• Quarterly bonuses tied to company profits, typically between $2,500 and $5,000
• Four weeks of paid time off
• Full-time remote work
• Strong work-life balance—you’ll work with fast-growing startups without sacrificing weekends
• Flexible culture with fewer meetings and less coordination, supported by high trust in your ability to deliver
