The Opportunity
In our Science Initiative, our mission is to support science and technology that will help make it possible to cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century. Interdisciplinary teams of physicians, biologists, computational scientists, and engineers can expand our understanding of the human body and illness — the very science behind medicine. CZI fosters collaboration between scientists and engineers, develops tools and technologies, and builds support for basic scientific research.
Some Science Initiative tools include:
napari – an open-source interactive, multi-dimensional image viewer for python
IDseq – a metagenomics platform focused on delivering insights in infectious disease
cellxgene – an open-source interactive data explorer for single-cell transcriptomics data
Meta, a semantic discovery tool that provides a faster way to understand, organize and explore science through personalized feeds.
To further our mission to enable researchers to gain a much deeper mechanistic and quantitative understanding of biological systems using imaging, the Imaging Technology Team is currently focused on growing an open source image analysis and visualization ecosystem, built around napari, an emerging community run project, and the napari-hub.
As a Product Manager on the Imaging Technology Team, you will partner closely with a cross-functional team including Engineering, Product Analytics, Application Science, User Research, and Design to lead our contributions to the napari viewer and interface with the vibrant, active external napari developer community to deliver high quality Imaging software. You will work closely with other product managers on the Imaging Tech team to find synergies and ensure alignment across products. This role is critical for us to continue to deliver value to the Imaging Community, and ultimately, accelerate scientific discovery. You will
Be accountable for the overall product management of CZI’s contributions to the napari viewer; deliver value to the napari community by defining and validating CZI’s product strategy, plans and roadmaps
Collaborate and partner cross functionally to ensure that product plans represent user needs, are feasible and viable, and are based on sound judgment, data, and a deep understanding of the user community
Work closely with Engineering, Product Analytics, Application Science, User Research, and Design at CZI, and with the broader napari and Imaging community getting buy-in and ensuring the team is clear on goals
Think quantitatively: co-create and validate hypotheses around napari that can be measured using methods from Product Analytics, user insights, and market trends
Partner closely with Imaging Program and other Imaging Tech leads to develop strategy for the Imaging Tech Team and find synergies across products and programs
Stay current with state-of-the-art scientific and commercial tools in the Imaging community, and display leadership in driving knowledge of this information with internal and external stakeholders
You have
