About the Team:
The Fraud Investigations team is part of Wealthsimple’s Security & Risk CXO Group, which sits under the Client Experience Operations team. Wealthsimple’s Security & Risk Group covers both investigative and operational fraud functions, including prevention, detection, investigation, and client experience. The team is essential in protecting our clients and maintaining trust in Wealthsimple’s services.
The Investigator will assess incidents involving suspected financial crime against Wealthsimple and its customers and recommend improvements to future measures. The Investigator will proactively uncover potential financial crime through in-depth analysis and respond effectively to reported allegations of financial crime.

    • Cash & Banking: Focuses on money movement, EFT/cheque fraud, and protecting our core banking features. You thrive in high-volume, fast-paced transaction monitoring.
    • Identity & Onboarding: Focuses on Account Takeovers (ATO), identity theft, identity conflicts, and onboarding fraud. You’re highly adaptable, learn quickly, and pay close attention to detail.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

    • Conduct thorough, detailed investigations into suspected financial crime activity.
    • Apply critical thinking and use data analysis and pattern-detection techniques to uncover financial crime.
    • Use internal systems and tools to gather information and document case findings.
    • Address and remediate activity deemed fraudulent or suspicious in line with industry and business best practices.
    • Handle multiple cases simultaneously while meeting case closure Service Level Agreements within established timelines.
    • Communicate directly with customers to investigate and resolve cases.
    • Take part in weekly and monthly calibration sessions with peers and relevant internal teams to identify fraud trends.
Skills we are looking for:

    • Minimum 1 year of fraud experience, with strong attention to detail and strategic thinking.
    • Resourceful, persistent, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven knowledge of fraud management frameworks, processes, controls, prevention systems, and technology—specifically in a financial services setting.
    • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze large datasets accurately and precisely.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), strong analytical abilities, and a detail-oriented mindset.
Compensation & Equity
🤑 Hourly pay range: Candidates in Canada can expect an hourly pay range of CAD $25.00–$31.25. Your actual compensation will be based on your skills, experience, and level. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the top of the range, and pay can increase quickly for those who make a significant impact.
🚀 Total compensation: In addition to base pay, this role includes equity compensation. We use clear job levels and market-based salary bands to keep compensation fair and consistent across the company.
