In this position, you will join the ‘Merchant Solutions’ team as a Senior Software Engineer. This team is part of the broader ‘Pay’ engineering group. Merchant Solutions is responsible for a wide range of functionality within the Olo Pay product, including supporting card-present and card-not-present transaction flows, reconciliation and reporting, payouts, pricing plans, merchant account management, and more. Your work may include building new initiatives from scratch, adding capabilities to existing products, and supporting our restaurant brands.
How you will make an impact:
– Demonstrate strong knowledge of the team’s domain and technology stack, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contributing to technical decisions.
– Proactively manage technical debt by prioritizing its resolution alongside feature development, maintaining codebases that are clean, scalable, and high quality through regular refactoring and system improvements.
– Own complex features and projects, working independently and in collaboration with teammates to take work from concept through delivery.
– Lead code reviews, define quality standards, and provide detailed feedback to raise engineering quality across the team.
– Partner with Product and other stakeholders to refine requirements, ensuring solutions are well designed and aligned with business goals.
– Deliver reliable, maintainable software, actively improving performance and resilience.
– Monitor and support production services, diagnosing and resolving critical issues quickly and with minimal assistance.
– Contribute to the architecture and design of distributed systems, applying best practices for reliability and scalability.
– Improve the team’s engineering practices and tooling by advocating for best practices and automation.
– Ensure consistency and quality across shared components and APIs.
– Contribute to the team’s knowledge base, lead learning sessions, and promote continuous improvement.
– Take ownership of the delivery pipeline, continuously optimizing code quality, testing standards, and deployment practices.
– Participate in on-call duties, with responsibilities based on your assigned team and area of expertise.
What will set you up for success:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
– 5+ years of software engineering experience.
– Advanced programming skills, with strong .NET/C# expertise and the ability to independently design and implement complex algorithms and architectures.
– CI/CD expertise, with experience improving CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, TeamCity, and Octopus Deploy.
– Strong testing and automation skills, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with a focus on automated testing for both development and deployment.
– Solid knowledge of distributed systems and cloud services, including building and maintaining distributed systems using platforms such as AWS, MongoDB Atlas, and Kubernetes/EKS.
– Technical leadership and collaboration skills, including mentoring, leading technical discussions, and working effectively across teams and departments to deliver solutions aligned with business priorities.
