We are an international family-owned business with Dutch origins, active in polymer and chemical engineering since 1984. Our main offices are located across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. After a period of significant growth, we are now entering a consolidation phase. As part of this, we are establishing a small office or remote team in Asia to handle back-office and accounting tasks initially.
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable controller to take on a dynamic role within our organization.
Our company culture is informal and hard‑working, with team members from many nationalities. English is our working language across all operations. Many colleagues work remotely from different countries throughout Eurasia and Africa, and you will also have the possibility to work partly remote. While we expect substantial working hours, the schedule is highly flexible.
Our group consists of multiple entities operating in various tax and accounting jurisdictions worldwide. We need a controller who can collaborate with both internal bookkeepers and external accountants to ensure accurate and timely reporting for local authorities, banks, credit institutions, and management.
We are currently restructuring our financial accounting systems, business control processes, and compliance procedures. This role will play a key part in shaping and implementing these systems, guiding bookkeepers, and monitoring quality and controls.
Internally, you will oversee the full set of accounts for all entities, both in Hong Kong and internationally. You will be supported by 1 FTE of bookkeeping capacity split between a junior and senior bookkeeper, both based outside Hong Kong.
To support smooth operations across departments, you will closely monitor payables, receivables, and their timing. We are introducing improvements to strengthen information flow between teams.
Your business control responsibilities will include cost analysis, tracking customer and product profitability, optimizing cash flow, reducing costs, and preparing timely management reports for decision-making. You may also occasionally support tender proposals or equipment investment analyses.
Key tasks:
– Accounting and financial control (35%)
– Designing and implementing accounting and compliance systems (25%)
– Business control and optimization (20%)
– Regulatory, tax, trade, and banking compliance (20%)
Requirements:
– Degree in Finance or Accounting
– At least 5 years of experience as an accountant or controller
– Experience in structured, systematic design and implementation
– Fluency in English (all work is conducted exclusively in English)
– Independent and proactive work style
– Confident and direct communicator
– Comfortable giving and receiving straightforward feedback
– Willing to work with diverse, cross‑cultural teams across multiple time zones
We operate several remote teams. Our expectations are high, but if you deliver results, you will enjoy substantial freedom in how you work.
