About the company Ever wonder how bars and restaurants buy their alcohol? SevenFifty is modernizing the wholesale beverage alcohol industry, which is massive but technologically antiquated. We’re working with many thousands of leading wholesalers, restaurants, bars, and retail stores across the country. SevenFifty is based in the East Village in Manhattan.
About the team We have a small, informal, close-knit team. Discussions often revolve around the interaction between technology and the wine and spirits industry. Two co-founders spent over ten years in the alcohol industry. Our third co-founder has over ten years of technology experience and holds a Ph. D. in computer science from Stanford (focused on machine learning and convex optimization). Members of our team have worked in a variety of leading establishments, including Alto, L’Artusi, The SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Veritas, Gotham Bar & Grill, Picholine, The Tippler, Louis 649, and others.
Responsibilities
- Co-ownership of our entire web stack
- Ability to lead design and implementation of major features
- Build tools to automate processing of and quality control for complex datasets
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience with server-side technologies: MVC frameworks (Rails preferred), databases/SQL, dynamic programming languages (Ruby preferred)
- Experience with client-side technologies: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, mobile web
- Comfort with basic software engineering concepts: version control, continuous integration, testing, etc.
- Comfort with basic computer science concepts: data structures, algorithms, etc.
- Comfort in Unix userland environment: grep, pipes, vim/emacs, etc.
Extras
- Experience in mobile development (mobile browsers, responsive design, native mobile apps)
- Interest in wine/spirits/beer/sake and the restaurant industry
- Interest in functional programming (we have production Clojure code)

$90,000 — $130,000/year
