The CDC Foundation is seeking an Epidemiologist I Case and Contact Investigator to work under the guidance of the Epi Investigation Lead. The role involves planning, developing, and carrying out epidemiological investigations, surveillance activities, and targeted interventions of limited scope or complexity to identify causes of disease and support disease control efforts. Findings will be shared with the team through established communication methods and tools. The position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, throughout the emergency response period.

Qualifications:

• Responds to inquiries from healthcare professionals and the public regarding communicable or environmental disease risks.
• Assists in evaluating environmental exposures and their effects on human health, conducting health surveys, and issuing health education advisories.
• Supports requests for public presentations on communicable or environmental disease threats, outbreaks, and control efforts.
• Contributes to designing, carrying out, and evaluating demographic, environmental, and epidemiological studies to identify risk factors, population characteristics, and ways to prevent recurring health issues.

This position is part of an evolving public health program, and responsibilities may shift as circumstances change. Any updates to duties will require written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the South Carolina Department of Public Health to best meet the state’s public health needs.

This is currently a remote role, though the CDC Foundation may adjust this if necessary.
