About the role
We are looking for an ambitious and passionate Content Development Manager to join our Canada team.
You will be responsible for expanding our content network by identifying, approaching, pitching to, and signing content partners – be that a magazine publisher, a TV production company, a talent agency, a well-known comedian or an influencer. You will also help existing and new partners to develop new podcast formats, as well as oversee the management of content partners once signed. As well as a strong knowledge of podcasting, you’ll be a fantastic pitcher and public speaker, a strong negotiator, and demonstrate a sensitivity for what makes content commercial, as well as an appreciation of the rapidly evolving podcast landscape.
We’re looking for someone ambitious, creative, personable, great at pitching, networking and a real self-starter. Experience working with talent is a plus. Most importantly – you must love podcasts.
You will be based in our Toronto office and report to the Senior Manager of Content Development.
What you’ll do
Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the podcast space – production companies, talent agencies, management companies, media companies, and independent podcasters.
Identify areas for audience growth which includes identifying, approaching, pitching to and signing new content partners to Acast, as well as developing new podcasting talent and formats.
Negotiate contractual relationships with content providers (i.e. independent podcasters, talent agents/managers, networks).
Establish and oversee the management of high level relationships with current and future content partners – both publishers and independent podcasters – with the support of Associate Partner Manager.
Attend regular partnership review meetings with podcasters.
Guide and assist content partners with integration into our system alongside the Customer Support team and Associate Partner Manager.
Who you are
Proficient knowledge and interest in the Canadian (including Quebec) and North American podcast market and audio industry.
Excellent pitching, presentation and problem solving skills.
Ability to build a pipeline and negotiate agreements.
Proactive and highly organised.
Exceptional verbal and written interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills.
Detail-oriented, with ability to still see big picture.
Team player who is collaborative, creative and highly motivated.
Fluent in both written and spoken English. French language is an asset.
Some experience in audio, journalism, digital media, marketing or branded content is a plus.
Some experience working with talent direct and /or navigating the entertainment industry is a plus, with an emphasis on negotiating with agents, lawyers, and managers.
