Overview of Position
Varsity Tutors, a leading private tutoring and test prep technology platform, is seeking a talented Android Developer. We are one of the fastest growing companies in education and we are looking for a talented developer to help with the creation and implementation of our Android mobile applications. The Android Developer will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and be heavily involved in building elegant, high-tech mobile applications for our educational products and services. This is a virtual position for applicants outside of St. Louis and for those in St. Louis it will be a based in our corporate office in Clayton, MO.
Qualifications
4+ years of work experience developing Android applications on phone and tablets
Android Mobile App UI design experience
Experience in Android NDK, XML layouts
Experience with UI/UX design
Experience with Android 4.2+
Experience with other mobile platform development tools and operating systems
Have shipped more than 2+ apps to the Google Play store
Experience with HTML5, JavaScript & CSS
8+ years software product development experience ( mix of iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Web)
These extra skills would be fantastic
Experience in Android 5.0 (Lollipop)
Ability to turn Photoshop mockups into functioning software
Experience with any of these languages C, C++,Java, C#,Obj-C
SQL

Responsibilities
Participate in full app life-cycle: concept, design, build, deploy, test, and release to app store
Work with existing code base to add and maintain new and existing features for Android applications
Design and develop high performance and user-friendly, native Android mobile applications
Work with other developers and the Varsity Team to design new features and enhance services
Motivated starter that is obsessed with improving workflow through better user-interfaces
