**Position Title:** Case and Contact Investigator (Epidemiologist I)
**Location:** Remote
**Position End Date:** 7/31/26
**Salary:** $85,000

**Overview:**
The CDC Foundation is looking for an Epidemiologist I Case and Contact Investigator to support the Epi Investigation Lead. This role involves planning, developing, and carrying out epidemiological investigations, surveillance activities, and targeted interventions of limited scope or low complexity to identify disease causes and support disease control efforts. Findings will be shared with the team through established communication methods and tools. Flexible hours may be required, including evenings and weekends, during emergency response periods.

**Qualifications:**
– Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field
– Knowledge of epidemiological study design, data collection, analysis, and how to present information
– Familiarity with standard descriptive statistical methods
– Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
– Strong understanding of biostatistics, statistical software, and statistical programming languages
– Strong computer skills, including database design, management, and data manipulation
– Strong written and verbal communication skills

**Responsibilities:**
– Support data collection and statistical analysis related to disease characteristics, clinical assessments, laboratory results, and other relevant information to identify trends, inform prevention or containment strategies, and prepare technical reports
– Help track outbreaks and recommend potential containment approaches
– Assist with monitoring and evaluating disease control programs in public health settings, including daycares, nursing homes, and other institutions, and propose solutions to disease control challenges
– Respond to questions from healthcare professionals and the public about risks related to communicable or environmental diseases
– Assist in assessing environmental exposures and their effects on human health by conducting health surveys and providing health education guidance
– Support requests to deliver public presentations on communicable or environmental disease threats, outbreaks, and response activities
– Contribute to designing, conducting, and evaluating demographic, environmental, and epidemiological studies to identify risk factors, population characteristics, and strategies to prevent recurring health concerns
– Support additional public presentation requests related to disease threats, outbreaks, and prevention programs

**Special Notes:**
This position supports a public health initiative that is continuously evolving, so duties may change as conditions develop. Any changes to responsibilities must be approved in writing by both the CDC Foundation and the South Carolina Department of Public Health to ensure alignment with state needs.

The job is currently remote, though the CDC Foundation may adjust this if necessary.
