Overview:
The CDC Foundation is hiring an Epidemiologist I Case and Contact Investigator to work under the supervision of the Epi Investigation Lead. The role involves planning, developing, and conducting epidemiologic investigations, surveillance activities, and targeted interventions of limited scale or complexity to identify disease sources and implement control measures. Results will be shared with the team through established communication methods. The position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during emergency response efforts.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of epidemiologic study design, data collection, data analysis, and data interpretation.
• Familiarity with standard descriptive statistical methods.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong background in biostatistics, including experience with statistical software and programming languages.
• Strong computer skills, including database design, management, and data handling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Supports data collection and statistical analysis of disease characteristics, medical evaluations, laboratory findings, and related information to identify trends, guide prevention or containment measures, and prepare technical reports.
• Assists in monitoring disease outbreaks and reviewing proposed containment measures. Helps evaluate disease control programs in healthcare facilities, child care centers, nursing homes, and other institutions, and recommends improvements.
• Responds to questions from healthcare providers and the public about communicable or environmental health concerns.
• Participates in studies and investigations of environmental exposures to evaluate their impact on human health, conducts health surveys, and provides health education guidance.
• Assists in creating public presentations on disease risks, outbreaks, and control strategies.
• Helps design, conduct, and evaluate demographic, environmental, and epidemiologic studies focused on public health concerns to identify risk factors, population characteristics, and prevention strategies.
• Assists with requests for public presentations on communicable or environmental disease risks, outbreaks, and control efforts.

This position supports an evolving public health program, and responsibilities may shift based on changing needs. Any updates to the duties listed will be confirmed in writing by both the CDC Foundation and the South Carolina Department of Public Health to ensure alignment with state priorities.
This role is currently remote, but the CDC Foundation may change this if needed.
