For the past 15 years, I’ve been a firefighter. 🔥 Whether it was dealing with unexpected client issues, managing team departures, or diving into project crises - I was always in “firefighting mode.” Every day, I was on the ground, solving "urgent" problems that kept popping up. But deep down, I always wanted to be an astronaut 🚀 - someone who gets to focus on just the big hairy audacious goals and dreaming up new ideas to help us reach the stars. ✨🌌 The problem? I kept getting pulled back down to put out fires because I lacked the discipline, processes and leadership. But something’s changed recently. For the first time, I feel like I’m finally putting on my space suit. Why? Because I’ve been able to surround myself with an incredible leadership team that allows me to shift my focus. With the recent hires of our new Director of Revenue, Kurt Akman and Director of Technology, Chris S. Morancie, MBA we’ve got the right people in place to handle the fires so I can step back and think strategically. It’s not an easy transition. I’m so used to jumping in to solve problems that letting go feels uncomfortable. But seeing how Kurt and Chris have stepped up has been a game-changer. I am getting to focus on the visionary and creative work that will take us to the next level. Working with Chris to invent new SaaS products that will help solve climate change. All while Kurt will take the last piece I’ve been scared to let go of, because it’s all I know, management of our sales and marketing teams 🙏 It’s a huge shift - and it’s also a little scary - but I’m excited to finally focus on being the astronaut I’ve always wanted to be. 👨🚀 To anyone who’s stuck in firefighter mode like I was: Don’t be afraid to invest in the right team.
