We're thrilled to announce the successful launch of the Sustainability Bootcamp 2025 at ESMT Berlin! 🌍🚀   Over the next two weeks, students from our Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship will dive deep into solving critical sustainability challenges, applying their learnings of their first term on real-world challenges.   This year, we're proud to collaborate closely with the Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe, focusing on two crucial challenge areas: 🔹 GovTech – Special thanks to Norbert Herrmann, Head of Startup Affairs, for providing an insightful briefing on navigating GovTech opportunities within public administration. 🔹 Sustainable Tourism – Gratitude to Sanja Strippel and Bernadette Manz for breaking down this complex challenge into two essential aspects: water tourism and carbon emissions.   A big shout-out to Bernd Brunke for his comprehensive overview of sustainability trends, startups, and ecosystem dynamics. And of course, special recognition to Nicola Filzmoser for her excellent workshop facilitation and Jeremias S. for leading engaging team-building sessions, fostering meaningful connections among participants.   We can't wait to see the innovative solutions our talented students will present at the Bootcamp's finale in two weeks! Stay tuned! 🌿✨

Global Strategy Leader | Private Equity PortCo, Big Four, and FTSE 100 Experience | Currently Open To a Suitable New Challenge

Strategy & execution are both essential. So, why are just 8% of leaders good at both? Good strategy needs good execution, and good execution needs good strategy. Yet this HBR heatmap based on a survey of nearly 700 people reveals they think top leaders in their own company are generally not very good at either, and bad at both. Why? The HBR article authors provide some plausible ideas: 1. Lack of a clear identity being committed to 2. Reluctance to understand front-line reality 3. Inefficient prioritization of resources 4. An out-of-sync culture. This got me thinking that perhaps a deeper reason for the 8% stat is that top execs rarely get to the top by being good at multiple things. They are usually good at one thing like sales or finance, but that doesn't give them the holistic thinking and skills needed to develop and execute strategy. What do you think? Why are just 8% good at both? Can it be fixed?
