    We're hiring at CertifID! 🚀

Last month, fraudsters swung big. Our Fraud Recovery Services hotline received over $22 million in reported wire fraud losses in February alone. Several transactions targeted were multimillion-dollar deals. Why the sudden surge? The market’s thawing, and scammers know buyers are eager to get off the sidelines. Two trends stand out: 🔺 Buyer cash to close fraud is spiking. → Over 50% of activated FRS recoveries were buyer cash to close fraud. Uneducated buyers continue to make BCTC fraud an incredibly successful tactic. 🔺 Account takeover/Bank impersonation fraud is rapidly emerging. → Fraudsters are posing as your bank’s security team to hijack your account—complete with spoofed caller IDs that actually match the bank’s official number listed on the back of your card. They're even asking victims to confirm the number on the back of their cards to "validate" the call. The U.S. Secret Service and major banks have confirmed an increase in attacks. How to protect yourself: 🔹Be wary of anyone who calls you claiming to be from bank security. Hang up the phone, find your bank’s actual fraud department phone number online, and call them directly to confirm. 🔹 Inform clients of these risks, and always—always!—verify bank details. (At CertifID, we can do that for you.) Have you or your team experienced these threats yet? Drop your story or thoughts below. 👇

🚨 52% of consumers don’t realize real estate wire fraud is a threat. That’s a massive security gap. Meanwhile, AI scams are getting more convincing, buyers & sellers want more security, and fraudsters are doubling down. So what’s the industry doing about it? 📍 Next week at 11 AM ET, Thomas Cronkright (CertifID Co-Founder) and Matt O'Neill (Former Head of U.S. Secret Service's Global Intelligence Operations Center) are breaking down the findings from the State of Wire Fraud 2025 report. They're peeling back the layers on: 🔺 AI-driven scams 🔺 The widening consumer awareness gap 🔺 How law enforcement is fighting back 🔺 What every business should do today to stay safe Don’t miss it—secure your spot now: https://hubs.la/Q039bVFH0

  • 🗣️ “Having a systematic way to discuss [wire fraud] is the only way we can ensure that these conversations happen every time. If you just leave it up to chance, then we're only going to talk about it when we remember, right? It’s not something that the client is normally looking out for.” A massive thanks to the National Association of REALTORS® and Tracey, Safety Lady Hawkins, Chris Garrett, and Chris Atwell for discussing the latest findings from our State of Wire Fraud 2025 report and the importance of proactive conversations about the risks. 👏

  • ❓ Why is it so hard to prosecute wire fraud? Law enforcement faces a massive challenge: there are tens of thousands of money mules moving fraudulent funds, but prosecuting one individual doesn’t stop the broader operation. As Nathan Stephens, our Manager of Fraud Recovery Services explains, the real goal is to identify and take down the key orchestrators—the ones directing billions in fraud. But that’s no easy task. It requires years of tracking transactions, connecting cases, and sometimes even convincing lower-level actors to cooperate. And for victims, that often means justice feels slow or out of reach.
