This year, we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with three students from NTNU working on their Bachelor’s thesis. As part of their thesis, the students have planned, designed and developed a generic Growth Chart plugin that can be installed and integrated into any DHIS2 tracker implementation. These charts are used by health providers worldwide to measure a child's rate of growth, and digitalizing them will be useful for many other countries that are using DHIS2. The charts are based on the World Health Organization's (WHO) references, but are fully customizable to fit any country’s need. We were also lucky enough to send the students (and a representative of DevOtta) for a week of field visits and user acceptance testing in beautiful Sri Lanka! We are extremely lucky to have the opportunity of staying close to the community, learning from the actual users of DHIS2, sharing our experiences with others, and fixing any challenges before the deliverable is completed. This is what makes great software! We want to give a big thank you to FORREGION Innlandet and Innlandet fylkeskommune for making this trip possible and supporting the work of our students. Also, a big thanks to HISP Sri Lanka and Pamod Amarakoon for organizing and supporting us both in advance and throughout the week. It’s been a great experience!
