Interested? Let’s talk about what we’re hiring for:
SkyBox Labs is searching for a Senior Environment Artist to help bring the worlds of Destiny 2 to life. In this role, you’ll collaborate with talented teams to create immersive and memorable game spaces. You’ll take ownership of your environments from early concept to final polish, using pre-made assets, engine-driven tools, and your creative vision to shape vibrant and immersive worlds.

If you’re driven by a love of world-building and want to leave your mark on the universe of Destiny 2, we’d love to hear from you!

A Snapshot of Your Role:

    • Collaborate with designers, artists, and cross-discipline teams to create immersive spaces that support gameplay and narrative goals
    • Build world layouts that blend organic and hard surface elements to craft visually striking environments
    • Take full ownership of your space, from initial concept to a fully realized, living world
    • Work hands-on in-engine to refine layouts, composition, and environmental storytelling
    • Optimize and problem-solve within a proprietary pipeline to meet performance targets without compromising visual quality
    • Work closely with level designers to ensure world layouts elevate the player experience

Sound Like You? Here’s What We’re Looking For:

    • Experience building worlds in a game engine
    • Strong level art and design sensibilities, with a proven ability to collaborate with designers to create gameplay-ready spaces
    • Proficiency in 3ds Max or Maya
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a cross-disciplinary team environment
    • Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing your time in a fast-paced production setting
    • A creative problem-solver with a willingness to learn new tools and workflows
    • A portfolio that demonstrates environmental storytelling, creativity, and technical craft

    • Nice-to-haves:
    • Understanding of lighting, FX, or other related disciplines
    • Experience with asset modeling
    • Familiarity with Perforce, Jira, and ShotGrid

And here is why we think you'll love working at SkyBox Labs:

    • Annual bonus and up to 3% RRSP matching available
    • Comprehensive health benefits, along with a supportive Parental Leave policy
    • Flexible hybrid and remote working arrangements: leverage our beautiful studio spaces as needed, and use our $400 work-from-home allowance to make your home office comfortable
    • Take care of your mental health with our Employee Assistance Program, 3 weeks of vacation leave, and our free gym at our Burnaby Studio
    • We relentlessly support your growth and development! Level up your C++ skills at SkyBox University, explore other disciplines through our Guild Program, and expand your game dev knowledge with Lunch & Learns. You’ll join a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and personal growth.
    • Social events! Have fun with the team at trivia nights, karaoke nights, movie nights, and various group activities. Join our soccer team, game jams, or a board game sesh after work. You name it, we’ve got it!
    • Get involved with our diverse community through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that champion Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives and promote a supportive environment
    • You’ll contribute to industry-leading titles, from legendary AAA franchises to Original IP

    • The base salary range is $97,000 to $133,000. The stated pay scale reflects the range that SkyBox Labs reasonably expects to pay for this position. Your base salary will be determined by various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, skills, and experience.
Our commitment to you:

One where we succeed together – across the desk and around Canada. Where like-minded people work naturally together to achieve great things (and games!).

Only candidates who reside in Canada or are willing to relocate will be considered for this role. Additionally, although we appreciate all interest, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
