About the team:
The FACT (Fraud, AML, and CrediT) Data Science & Engineering team is made up of data scientists and analytics developers from a wide range of academic backgrounds. The team delivers advanced analytics that support data-driven risk management and financial valuation at Wealthsimple. The team includes experienced data professionals and works closely with product managers, software developers, and risk strategists.
We are hiring a data scientist to join the FACT DSE team. In this role, you will design and run product experiments and build reliable machine learning pipelines that shape key product decisions at Wealthsimple. Successful data scientists combine skills in experimental design, predictive modeling, and software engineering while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
What you will do:
• Design and run product experiments to improve the Wealthsimple client experience
• Deploy and continuously refine some of Wealthsimple’s core machine learning models
• Build a central repository of machine learning features that supports advanced analytics across the company
• Turn experimental insights into real products and solutions
• Ensure models are thoroughly tested, documented, and well maintained
• Prefer simple, effective solutions—Occam’s razor guides your approach
• Take ownership and deliver work incrementally
• Share knowledge and support your teammates—we succeed together
Who you are:
• Experienced in complex experimental design (A/B testing, factorial experiments)
• Skilled in building end-to-end production machine learning pipelines
• Strong in SQL, Python, and statistical techniques
• Comfortable with software engineering practices like unit testing and version control
• Experienced in feature engineering for machine learning
• Focused on achieving results with simple, practical solutions
• Curious and eager to understand product strategy and business context
• Able to build strong cross-functional relationships
• Experience in risk management is an asset
