Metabase helps anyone easily understand their data, from small startups getting up and running quickly to large enterprises with tens of thousands of users. That’s why so many people enjoy using it.
We bring the simplicity of consumer-grade tools to the traditionally cumbersome world of enterprise business intelligence. Our open‑source platform provides a clear, opinionated framework for how organizations can measure, analyze, and share data, and it’s relied on by tens of thousands of companies.
Technical writers ensure Metabase’s documentation stays accurate and useful.
What you’ll do:
• Work with engineers, product managers, and designers to produce clear, user‑centric documentation for Metabase.
• Partner with Success Engineers to understand customer needs and create best practices, guides, and tutorials that support them.
• Develop deep product knowledge, test new features, and offer product feedback.
About you:
• At least three years of experience creating technical documentation for data analytics, data engineering, or similar audiences.
• Technical background in data science or data engineering—you’ll need to understand both the product and the domain.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Solid understanding of databases and the broader data ecosystem.
• Experience with docs‑as‑code workflows, Markdown, and Git.
Nice to have:
• Experience writing API and SDK documentation.
• Familiarity with Python or JavaScript.
• Clear perspectives on documentation tools.
Why Metabase?
• Documentation is a core part of our product, and we treat it with care.
• We’re a fully remote, asynchronous company with no physical office. You decide when and where you work best—we trust you to manage your time. Meetings are rare, focused, and considerate of your schedule.
• You’ll contribute to a major open‑source project used by more than 80,000 companies worldwide.
If there’s more you’d like us to know about your background or interests, feel free to add it in the “additional information” section of the application. Real people read every application, and we value hearing from you.
We are a global, fully distributed team (about half of us outside the U.S.), working asynchronously across time zones from Thailand to California. We support one another, value deep focus, and strive to do the best work of our careers. We offer autonomy, flexibility, and an environment that encourages learning and growth. We stay committed to user needs and prioritize long‑term value over short‑term fixes. We also raised a $30M Series B to continue building toward that mission.
For U.S. applicants: Metabase participates in the federal E‑Verify program, which confirms employment eligibility for newly hired U.S. employees. E‑Verify is used only after hiring and is not part of the screening process.
